Welcome, future quantity surveyors. In any construction project-changes are unavoidable. A client may request a different finish, the engineer may discover unexpected ground conditions, or a design error may require additional work. These changes, known as variations and extras, directly affect project costs and contracts. This course will teach you how to distinguish between a variation (altering existing work) and an extra (adding completely new work), and how to apply Kenyan contract conditions such as the JBC forms.
Throughout this online session, you will learn practical skills: valuing variation orders, using Bill rates or dayworks, keeping proper records, and avoiding common disputes. By the end, you will confidently handle site changes from the first instruction to the final account.
